PEGASUS YOUTH THEATRE TOPPING OUT CEREMONY
The £3m contract which completes in April 2010 provides new facilities for the theatre’s drama and dance activities on the existing site and is a vital part of Oxford’s youth and arts culture and a focus for the local community.
The topping out nailed a key stage in the programme, where crane facilities that have towered over the site for the past four months undertook their final responsibilities before being dismantled. SpellerMetcalfe offered the local community a unique opportunity to have a bird’s-eye view from a special personnel cage, which held a maximum of 3 people and was elevated by the crane above the building.
Local residents and Pegasus’ young performance project participants joined Speller Metcalfe to celebrate with an early mince pie, hot spiced drinks and illuminated Christmas decorations provided by the theatres commissioned artist Matthew Lane Sanderson.
